Skills Database

Welcome to the Skills Database. This is where OMs can offer career guidance and services to other Old Manwoodians, current pupils and the school. In a short space of time, 125 OMs have registered their skills and experience with the Skills Database and it is already making a difference. Examples of this have been:

  • Career mentors - to a number of current Manwoodians as they make University decisions.
  • Careers talks - given at the school such as to the school's Law Society
  • Services - the OMA and school have benefited from procuring services from OMs
  • Networking - at the moment we haven't yet achieved a solution to allow OMs to easily network using the Skills Database, but we have plan to enable that to happen.

Step 1 - register you interest

If you'd like to be involved, please contact David Stevens: stevensd@omamembership.co.uk with the following information (which will be governed by the OMA's data privacy policy):

  • Full Name (plus maiden name if applicable)

  • Years at Manwood’s

  • Email address

  • Skills/Profession you would like to share

Step 2 - connect and mentor

Current students - the school's careers staff will identify whether these is an opportunity to put a student in touch with an OM mentor. At this stage, the OMA will get in touch to ensure that you are happy for your details to be released and they will be passed to the parent of the student (for safeguarding reasons, it is important that parents are happy with your interaction with their child). You will then be contacted by the parents to arrange a way to 'meet' with the student, probably via an online meeting that the parent may choose to join.

Services - if the school is looking for a specific service, they will contact the OMA to identify whether there are any opportunities to work with OMs and their companies. the OMA will get in touch to ensure that you are happy for your details to be released. The school will then be in touch and will establish whether you and/or your company can partake in a formal tender process. It is important to stress that OMs will not receive preferential treatment within that formal tender process.
